Craps – Game of chance

You’ve no doubt heard about it, but you’ll be forgiven if you’ve asked the question: What is the game of craps?

Is there any game that’s more about chance than craps? If there is, we have not heard about it. This is one of the oldest casino games in the world, one of the most popular, and one of the most exciting, providing plenty of our most popular casino images, plot points for plenty of films, and tons of excitement for players the world over. But if you’re thinking of playing craps, and you’re a bit confused about how it works, don’t worry, as we’ve got your back.

It’s a very simple game that operates on easily understandable principles, yet, due to the simplicity of the game, and the range of bets that you can play, there are plenty of exciting combinations you can play that keep casino craps gameplay fresh and always exciting.

So let’s take a look at an iconic casino game, and how you can have fun by rolling the dice and winning big!

What is online craps?

Every culture around the world seems to have some variation on dice, whether its bones, lots, or a numbered cube. If you have two dice, you have a game of dice, or, as it’s known at casinos the world over, craps. Casino players know and love this game, but although it can be played in casinos, kitchens, homes, or on the street, we’re interested in the game as it is presented in online casinos, our gambling venue of choice. So, with this knowledge, and bearing in mind the excitement of the dice, let’s have ourselves a game of craps.

Effectively, in craps, you can bet on two things: whether or not the shooter – the person rolling the dice – will win; and what number (and in what combination) the dice will show. It’s a little bit more complicated than that, of course, but that’s the basics of the game. Here are the details of how to play craps online.

Laying bets in craps is simple. The shooter starts off by placing a bet on either the Pass or Don’t Pass Line, which correlates to winning or not winning the bet in craps gambling. He roles the dice, and if it comes up as a 2, 3, or 12 on the first bet, he loses if he’s placed a bet on the Pass line. If he gets a 7 or 11, it’s a natural win for the Pass player. The opposite applies if the shooter has a bet on Don’t Pass. If this phase, known as the come-out, doesn’t end in a result, the game moves on to the point phase.

Online Craps Games

During this part of online craps games, a button is flipped onto the Onside and moved to the value that was rolled in the come-out stage. So, if a player rolls a 4, the croupier (or the craps game online program) moves the On button to the 4. The object is to roll a 4 again before the player rolls a 7. If a 7 is rolled, this causes the Pass player to lose, or the Don’t Pass bet to win.

There are several other bets that can be placed, including on specific numbers being rolled, specific combinations, or whether there will be a craps shot (a 2, 3, or 12) or not. Each of these is slightly different, of course, but they do provide lots of excitement for the player, whether he’s playing casino craps online or in a land-based casino. The major difference between the 2 is the question of honesty and how the game is run or dice are rolled. In a land-based casino, craps are the source of one of our most famous sayings about cheating, “playing with loaded dice.” Loaded dice don’t exist online, though, so that’s one problem solved. The online game is also much faster-paced than the land-based version, which means that online casino craps is an obvious choice for players who like to live according to the roll of a dice.

One would think that the possibilities of winning in craps are astronomically small. After all, betting everything on the roll of a die is absolute madness. While that may be the commonsensical view, it’s not entirely accurate. Practice makes perfect, and by learning about the game, and a bit of craps practice, you might have a chance of winning.

You have 2 dice in craps, each of which has 6 sides. That makes a total of 36 possible number combinations. In a craps game online, though, you have to be careful of the number 7. The reason for this is that there are 6 different ways to make the number 7 when rolling 2 dice. In contrast, 2 and 12 have only one possible combination. Still, there’s only a 1 in 6 chance of getting a 7 on any single roll of the dice, so there’s hope for you yet.

Bear in mind, too, that placing a timely bet can help with your chances. If you practice with some free online craps games, you can work out the best possible results for your bets. Trial and error are best done when you don’t have anything riding on the result, and when you don’t succumb to the gambler’s fallacy. Forewarned is forearmed!
